The Joint Research Activities are targeted towards prototyping and testing the virtualization – slicing tools and novel architectures not deemed sufficiently mature or defined to be mapped to a service in the project.
In the Joint Research Activities, the partners perform their own research (on general control, management and monitoring architectures for virtual networks, user controlled networks, software routers) on the infrastructure itself. The results of the research are intended to be fed into the Service Activities for rapid prototyping and implementation. As a starting point, the project will leverage from current R&D activities of the partners.
JRA1: Network Control and Management
This activity will investigate how to deploy existing network control
and management technologies on the FEDERICA infrastructure. It will also
develop and prototype new tools for use in multi-domain, multi-vendor
virtual environments.
JRA2: Novel Paradigms and User Control
This activity will investigate suitable architectures for virtualised
infrastructures, along with appropriate sharing, security, accounting
and cost-recovery models. It will further develop a standard framework
for facilitating UCLP and IPsphere inter-operation.
