FAQs

If you can't find the answer to your question, please contact: fed-upb@fp7-federica.eu

Who can access the FEDERICA infrastructure?
The FEDERICA infrastructure can be exploited by selected users in their future internet R&D activity. Both research groups, project or individuals can apply. Proposals are subject to an evaluation process by the User Policy board, whose goal is to examine and prioritize requests for the use of the infrastructure, according to the resource availability and the proposed technical work plan of the applicant.

I am interested in using the FEDERICA infrastructure, how can I get involved?
Reserachers interested in using the infrastructure can apply by filing the request to the e-mail address fed-upb@fp7-federica.eu, attaching the relevant forms  . The request will be evaluated by the User Policy board. Further information on the process is available at: Getting involved page

What kind of use can I make of the infrastructure?
A User Organisation may use FEDERICA to create a Slice for experimental research, and to connect other resources which are reachable via interworking agreements operated by FEDERICA partners. In order to access the infrastructure, users are required to comply with the FEDERICA AUP, where you can find further details about acceptable and unacceptable uses of the FEDERICA facility.

How much time can I use the Infrastructure?
As a general rule, a time line with a maximum of three months per experiment is recommended. This is to guarantee that a fair amount of projects can utilize the FEDERICA services and that the underlying infrastructure is efficiently shared. Longer proposals are possible, provided detailed motivations are given.

How much I have to pay for the use of the Infrastructure?
For the FEDERICA services, normally no costs will be incurred to the user/project (FEDERICA is a partly EC funded project). If exceptional demands are requested and can be made available easily (like excessive support, a lot of co-location space/power, connectivity to networks/users/projects), FEDERICA may charge for some of the costs. In this peculiar case, costs will be determined on a case by case basis.
